Back to the beginning? Storm chasing for photos

Storms are loud and dangerous, and best viewed from inside a safe structure. They are also beautiful and exciting, and what kind of photos are you going to get from inside?

Wanting to photograph storms is actually what led me to picking up a camera at age 12. 23 years later I don’t chase as much as I’d like, but I still find it every bit as exciting when I can. In today’s blog I share a video from my YouTube channel where I documented the chase last July that led to this photo of a shelf cloud over a water tower in Rock City Falls, NY. The Northeast isn’t known for the hardest hitting of storms, so when the SPC called for an Enhanced risk with 5% tornado probability it was time to study the radar and grab a camera!
